If I have to do a one-line review of this book, it would say ‘Someone trying too hard to be funny and losing every bit of it in the process’. The book does have some small moments that are funny. And still, make sense. But overall, you simply get lost in the random rants of the author. I wanted to read this book because I expected it to be funny. And say something about the average Indian Male. I had seen the author hosting a live event a few years back. He did sound funny. Of course, he has TV shows where now I feel he again tries too hard to be funny. And his humor jumps so much from one world to another that I miss the point most of the time.
The first part of the book is a series of letters that the author answers. Basically complaints about the various traits of Indian men. The author himself has obviously written the letters and answers. And I could not get most of them. Yes, there are few funny things here and there. That genuinely make you smile. Like the analysis of males from all corners of the country. But most of the times you wonder at the author’s ability to shoot off from a small point to something that can not even be called a tangent. In between the letters, he jumps into giving his views. Most of which have nothing to do with the preceding or succeeding letter.
The second part of the book with topics like Girls bar, powder puff boys, Phamily Phrend is little better than the first. But if you read books sequentially like I do, you are too bored and lost by now to really enjoy them.
Do not go by the media personality of the author. Read it only if you are a die-hard fan of his. And you actually understand his jokes.
