Journey to Black Hole by Hari Joshi

This is one of the two books written by Hari, who is a good friend of mine. I have been a part of the writing and publishing of this book Journey to Black Hole. So my review may be a little biased. The book has been written for the kids. To explain to them the fundamental scientific principles in an interesting manner.

Journey to Black Hole

The author takes the kids on a journey in the outer space. And starts by saying that he has asked ‘Einstein’ to relax the rules for the day. So that they can travel at a speed faster than the speed of light. In a very interesting manner, he explains the concept of temperature, the function of the space suit, and the way an airplane flies and a rocket pushes itself into space. The concept of atmosphere and how it protects us. He explains all the planets and how they were discovered. What is their size relative to the size of the earth? He goes out of the Milky Way and explains galaxies.

Kids

The book is interspersed with interesting cartoons, to keep the topics light. I think it would make an interesting reading for kids who are reading these concepts in school but cannot relate to them. The concepts are fundamental, but the way they are presented is interesting.

The novel begins with the scientists preparing for their journey. They have built a special spacecraft that is equipped to withstand the extreme conditions near a black hole. The team is led by Dr. Anuraag, a brilliant physicist who is determined to solve the mystery of black holes.

The scientists travel to a black hole located in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. As they approach the black hole, they begin to experience strange phenomena. Time slows down, and the gravity becomes so strong that it begins to distort their bodies.

The scientists eventually reach the event horizon, the point of no return beyond which nothing can escape the black hole’s gravity. They are able to collect data and make observations, but they are unable to return to their own universe.

Journey to Black Hole is a thought-provoking novel that explores the nature of black holes and the possibility of traveling to them. Joshi’s writing is clear and engaging, and he does an excellent job of conveying the scientific concepts involved. The novel is a must-read for fans of science fiction and anyone who is interested in learning more about black holes.
