Dilli Ki Galiyan is one of the simplest writings of Amrita Pritam that I have read. Also, the story is written in a relatively simple manner. Or maybe, I have grown up to understand the complexities in her writing.

Furthermore, familiarity with her writing style makes it easier to grasp the emotions she is trying to portray. In her typical style, she explores the emotions of a woman. A woman living and working in Delhi. And how she deals with various emotions. Emotions that she evokes in people she meets during her work assignments as a columnist in a daily newspaper.

Having Delhi as a backdrop, Dilli Ki Galiyan talks about how vulnerable a woman can be in the Capital City. Vulnerable emotionally and physically. And how strong she has to be to deal with the reactions people have when she does not behave or respond to them as they would have liked her to. But at the same time, there are these two characters that give the protagonist all the support that she needs to deal with these issues and lead her life with stability. In a way conveying that we all need that emotional anchor in our lives whose presence gives us the stability that we need.
